What Do You Do If Your Sponsor Sucks?
Great question right?
I'm sure you've dealt with this situation if you've had any sort of tenure as a network marketer.
I mean you do all the research, you find a business that you think is a perfect fit for you, you do the research to find a great sponsor, and then when you think everything is matched up perfectly your jump in.
What happens?
You get in and then you get very little support from your upline! You don't know what to do or where turn and you start to feel like you're in this thing all alone.
Well I'm going to tell you something that I'm guessing you've never heard before!
In Some Ways You're Actually Pretty Lucky!!!!
Why?
Well as someone that was in a network marketing company with virtually no sponsor and I've also been in a network marketing opportunity with a great sponsor, I've seen things from both sides.
So let me explain . . .
When I started with network marketing I was sure to dot all my eyes and cross all my tees. I found a good sponsor and what I thought to be a good system and company. I did everything I was taught to do and over 13 months later I had no success.
My next run in network marketing I found a company I liked without much regards to the sponsor and joined. And now 18 months later I've got a thriving organization that grows by 10 to 15 people a day like clockwork without any direct upline support.
If we looked at the situation objectively based on my results the obviously conclusion would be that going in without a sponsor is the way to go.
Now I'm not going to say that is totally true, but . . .
Going into a business without a strong sponsor does have its advantages. It forces you to go out into the world without expectations and without their system and figure it out for yourself.
You're forced into a leadership role.
You have to find what works for you and if you don't there's nothing to lean on, so it's really a do or die situation! You're forced to go to school and learn. You have to buy books and information from those who have been more successful than you and then create your own system out of it.
You have to be independent.
If you have a good sponsor you can get lazy.
You can rely to heavily on their system and their promise of its effectiveness. You have a scape goat for when it doesn't work! So when you don't get the success you thought you deserved from all your hard work it's NOT your fault, it's your sponsors fault, it's your companies fault. (At least in your own mind.)
All I'm saying is if your going to be successful in network marketing your sponsor has little to do with it. He or she can shorten your learning curve, but it's up to each and every one of use to define our path to success and become our own leader.

Leadership Begins Within - 7 Ways You Can Make a Difference
Are you an Effective Leader?
Communication is key, especially when you are the person in charge of making things happen. People will not have the opportunity to learn unless know how to effectively communicate what is expected of them.
If you want to be a better leader, you need to first learn who you are. Identify your strengths and weaknesses equally so you understand how to operate, both positively and negatively. Observe how you treat others and how they respond to you.
One thing you must commit to, if you want to practice better leadership, is the willingness to learn from every experience, particularly the painful ones, for they yield the richest lessons. When we work on improving ourselves ... we also work on strengthening our business skills. Read the following questions carefully and think about what type of leader you are. Take note of your strong areas and your weak areas.
Are you an effective leader?
Fairness and Consideration: Do others enjoy being around you and find you easy to talk to? Do you treat people fairly as you would like to be treated? Abusive or intimidating behavior only puts a wall between you your business associates. Others want to do business with people that are fair and considerate in all aspects of that relationship.
Sensitivity: Do you criticize others only in private? While praising in public encourages people to excel, public criticism will only embarrass and alienate everyone.
Clear Vision: Do you take the time to share you vision, your mission and your goals? Your job as leader is to provide a clear vision that your team is to follow. They also need to understand why that goal is valuable to them.
Being Open Minded: Are you open minded? Do you stop and listen to suggestions from your staff and other in other people you work with? Do you quickly implement those good ideas? If your goal is to be self-centered, followers will lose their enthusiasm. Emphasize the strengths and contributions of everyone you do business with. When you put one of your staff’s or business associate’s ideas to work quickly they will feel more involved and be more willing to continue offering ways to improve within your business.
With an open mind you will bring many new, fresh and innovative ideas into your organization. A good leader always stays open minded.
Do You Work Under A Relaxed Environment? The atmosphere where your staff and associates feel comfortable and have fun while doing business with you? No one wants to feel the pressures and stress on the job, although they will sometimes be there. Take time to have fun and let the people around you do so as well.

Are you an effective leader?

Abusive or intimidating behavior only puts a wall between you your business associates. Others want to do business with people that are fair and considerate in all aspects of that relationship.
Sensitivity: Do you criticize others only in private? While praising in public encourages people to excel, public criticism will only embarrass and alienate everyone.
Clear Vision: Do you take the time to share you vision, your mission and your goals? Your job as leader is to provide a clear vision that your team is to follow. They also need to understand why that goal is valuable to them.
Being Open Minded: Are you open minded? Do you stop and listen to suggestions from your staff and other in other people you work with? Do you quickly implement those good ideas? If your goal is to be self-centered, followers will lose their enthusiasm. Emphasize the strengths and contributions of everyone you do business with. When you put one of your staff’s or business associate’s ideas to work quickly they will feel more involved and be more willing to continue offering ways to improve within your business.
With an open mind you will bring many new, fresh and innovative ideas into your organization. A good leader always stays open minded.

How To Talk To A Woman In Network Marketing (MLM)
“Closers Wanted", or "You Have To Close The Deal”, or my personal favorite "ABC - Always Be Closing"
Have you ever heard these clowns using their guerilla closer tactics tell you, “Bring everyone you can find into the meeting and I’ll close ‘em for ya”?
Maybe, your still in one of those companies where the biggest, beefiest super guerilla closer of them all is supposed to close all the dull-whitted prospects you manage to bring to a tele-call everyday?
You have probably also heard the super fat cat awesome closer gets the big box because he is so important that he deserves that reward the most.
Have you ever noticed it is the guerilla closer tactician that gets the lime light up on the stage? What with his power suit, power shirt, power tie, power watch, and yes even power under wear? Man, watch him strut! Can you tell how much he loves it?
Those guys think they are so cool because closing is the most important thing on the planet, and only they know how to do it because they have cevelar skin, titanium bones, and liquid nitrogen blood. They just know they are “all that”.
What Is Missing Here?
Did you see one mention of the word “she” or “her”?
No.
Why do you suppose that is guys?
HINT: None of the gals are guessing.
Guys, until now I have stuck it to you, a lot like you stuck it to the girls you have “scored on”, to get your attention.
In network marketing men seem to think that the faster and more often they can “score” .. oops … er, uh … I mean “close” the better.
Wake up fellas!
If the girls you tried to "close" in the back seat of your dads car did not want that back then, what makes you think that things have changed just because the game is now MLM or Network Marketing?
Grow up!
Network Marketing & MLM FACTS About Women:
1. Women make up 80% of all network marketers according to the Direct Sales Association.
2. Women do not like to be pushed into anything.
3. Women hate to be closed.
Remember back on that first date guys?
Admit it … you knew she did not want to be dragged into that back seat to be closed!
Heads up … she still does not want that and she never will.
And she feels the same about you and your “close” in MLM.
I know you are probably thinking, “So what’s the big deal? What do they want?”
OK Bubbu, come here and let me draw you a picture.
No matter what was going on in your head, or what your vision of the future was, that girl knew she would have to carry your baby for 9 months, and then care for it and nurture it for at least another 18 years. And get very little....if any "support" from you the closing gun slinger who's just out for the thrill of the kill!
Meanwhile where is mister Romeo?
Dragging some other poor girl into the same “close”.
That girl knows that in today’s network marketing world it takes weeks, or even months just to build good relationships. They need to be sure your not going to just take off after you get what you really wanted, the "close".
That takes trust, understanding and support!
Then it will probably take another 1 to 3 years for those relationships to pay off in the form of a long-term, residual income. And of course by this time that girl, who became a mother is now a grandmother so she may be needed to help with the next generation of new network marketing youngsters.
That girl … no … that woman knows all this takes is first trust, planning, and passion.
That woman knows what most guys have yet to learn …
Here Is What Women Know
It is NOT all about the “close” or the first sale.
She hates being “closed” as much as she hated being treated and talked to as a “score”.
She is NOT a thing to be “closed”, she is a person.
Building a long-term business customer base takes a lot of understanding people needs, patience in training, and nurturing.
Starting out with a long-term mind set is most important to success in MLM.

Are You Using A Sharp or Dull Axe?
Imagine walking up to a man trying to chop down a tree in the forest. He's struggling with all his might and yet he's barely made any progress.
You look at him and you see that he is chopping at the tree vigorously and he's been at it for quite some time and he's intent on getting the tree to down.
He has a single focus and is using all the proper leverage and perfect technique, but as you get close you see there is one thing out of place.
He's using a dull blade.
You say to the man . . .
"Hey buddy why don't you just sharpen your blade, you'll get the job done twice as fast?"
He replies . . .
"No time, can't you see I'm trying to chop down this tree?"
Well, when I first started network marketing I was this guy out in forest trying to chop down my tree of successfully building a downline.
I hacked at it. I tried all the techniques I was told were proper and I was intent on using them with all my might until my goal was reached.
Unfortunately, the guy in our example above had one advantage over me.
He had someone actually come up to him and point out his problem.
The sad truth is . . .
If someone had done this for me I probably would have given them the same response that our man with the axe above gave.
I would have said . . .
"Can't you see I'm trying to build a downline? I don't have time for that!"
While in the act and exerting all our energy to a task we give very little time to reflection on what may truly help us be more successful. We think that if we just keep hacking away that sooner or later we will be successful in achieving our end.
While this may hold true . . .
Wouldn't a sharper blade make that struggle a whole lot easier?
I hear a question brewing . . .
"Paul, you say a blade, but what does this equate to in network marketing?"
HOW YOU MARKET YOUR BUSINESS
All I'll say is this . . .
You can't consistently recruit 30 people in a month with personal contact or with the phone, but when you learn to leverage the awesome power of the internet using "funded proposals" to your advantage you end up with a mighty sharp network marketing blade that can!

The Internet Half-Truths & Lies!

You know what is MORE damaging than an out right lie?

People waste $5,000 to $50,000 in our business throwing darts up against the wall.
They fall all over themselves and their family's savings, in vein, following a SYSTEM that someone lied to them about and was only a HALF-TRUTH.
Case in point. You join an opportunity. It's not MLM (Network Marketing) and it doesn't pay you residually.
Maybe it's $500 or $1,500 or even $5,000 to join and you get to earn HUGE retail money.
Maybe it's a 1-Up or a 2-Up.
Sell the darn thing for $597 and earn $500.
Or, sell another deal for $1,500 and earn $1,000.
Wow... BIG money... Your sponsor is earning $18,000 per month.
And your "team" (funny how we assume the team is our new family!)
And the NEW TEAM around you bashes Network Marketing.
All of a sudden what was ONCE your bastion of hope now sucks.
They REMIND you of your past failure in MLM and that the NEW WAY to WEALTH is by selling large ticket premium programs in the neighborhood of $500 to $5,000.
Essentially that is now what the WOLVES are now teaching.
That MLM all of sudden sucks. You are now brainwashed (again) into a half-truth. They tell you that MLM is (dead), doesn't work and that the NEW MONEY is one time NO downline sales of 1-Up and 2-Up programs.
The HALF-TRUTH is correct.
The new money is in creating large dollops of cash up-front.
That half-truth is correct.
YOUR days are numbered if you don't start to teach your new batch of starry eyed Lambs to GET PAID ALREADY.

Stop Being An Amateur & Start Being A Professional
Poor networkers are amateurs and wealthy networkers are professionals!

1) A professional is someone who gets paid. An amateur is someone who doesn't.
Many people in this industry are really busy browsing the internet, holding mastermind meetings, training, visiting with the competition, emailing associates, watching American Idol, listening to their ipods, or just sitting around in a daze staring at their call display screen. Unfortunately, that's what the amateurs are doing and that's why they don't get paid.
If you want to start making a pile of money in this industry, just focus on recruiting and retailing (marketing - more on that if future articles) to prospective customers. So, in other words...JUST GO PRO!
2) Professional (wealthy) networkers are proud of the MLM industry. Amateur (poor) networkers are embarrassed to be in MLM.
That's crazy!
The network marketing (MLM) industry is the ONLY ethical, decent industry left for value-based humans who prefer to become wealthy by elevating others to their highest potential!
How would you like to be a lawyer and spend your life engaged in the orderly tranfer of wealth from those who earned it to those who didn't, or helping people literally get away with murder. Or how about a banker who loans money at interest which, in most Christian denominations, is defined as the venial sin "usury" and punishable by eternal damnation.
Folks, network marketing is a win/win, not a win/lose. Be proud of your profession. I'd rather jump of a bridge than do anything less admirable than MLM.
3) Professional networkers know business and marketing is a numbers game. Amatuers think there is some trick or secret they will discover that will make it easy for them to have success, so they don't have to work hard.
Here's my professional formula for working the numbers...
A) Prospect 25 people a day five days a week that you send to your "funded proposal". Never try and present your MLM company first to "opportunity seekers" (leads)!
B) Follow-up with only the prospects that purchase the funded proposal.
C) When the prospects that you followed up become involved with the network marketing opportunity you are marketing, get them plugged into your teams training system (this starts creating the duplication). My teams training system is called Fast Track.
If you follow the above formula for one full year...POOF!!! You're at $20,000 to $30,000 a month in virtually any company out there. Those numbers don't vary and I've seen dozens of people succeed by sheer effort and tenacity once they learned this simple secret. It's all a numbers game.
